26/08/2016 - Nos babysitters bilingues

You have been put in contact with a babysitter you will meet shortly? No stress, everything will be fine! Your children will be well guarded and will emerge from this extraordinary linguistic experience. In this article, discover the questions to ask yourself and the advice to follow to know during the interview if this English-speaking babysitter is made for your children!

Meet a bilingual babysitter already fit and trained

Know first of all that the speakers we present to you have already gone through a series of interviews, have been subjected to questions of sanitary and security and they are quite able to take care of your children. In addition, they are trained by us to handle emergencies and to teach English to your children in the best possible conditions. Do not forget that the purpose of this meeting is not to give them yet another interview, but to discover more about your future babysitter!

Ask him about his hobbies and his experience

First, to make comfortable your bilingual babysitter, talk to him about a subject he / she masters. Ask him what his background is, what his hobbies are, his tastes etc. These questions will allow you, in addition to relaxing the atmosphere, to know a little more personally the person who will take care of your children. All of our speakers have previous experience with children, so you can have them talk about their previous experiences without stepping on eggs. These first questions will just give you a first idea about the person (Is she patient, will you get along with her, etc.)?

Put your future babysitter in situation

In a second step, you can ask her the kind of activities she does with children: What activities does he / she usually do with children, does he / she love games? of society, what will it do if it rains all day, what it plans to do with your child, etc. These questions will help reassure you. At this time of the interview, you can very well tell him the types of games that your children prefer. You can just as well ask her how she envisions an evening with your children.

These first two phases of the interview are quite informal and only serve to reassure you since we are committed to ensuring that our stakeholders meet the necessary conditions in advance.

Test contact with your children

Then put your speaker in contact with your children and test their behavior and reactions. While the current between you and the speaker must pass but it is essential that the current passes between your children and the speaker. Ask yourself the right questions: Do the children seem comfortable with the speaker? Does your future speaker make them feel comfortable? Compare their behavior to the one they usually have in the presence of adults they do not know. Do not get me wrong, it is possible that your children are intimidated to have an English babysitter. In this case, do not panic, the link will develop very quickly between your baby-sitter and your children.

Explain how they work

Finally, explain to the worker your rules (meal time, bath time, bedtime, television / video game authorization, possible homework time). It is also important to explain to him how you see your child's custody (from a parental point of view). While explaining to him, you can show him your home so that he / she can find his way more easily.

Do not hesitate to speak to him in English

One question has been bothering you since the beginning of this article: the question of English. And yes ! Our speakers are often native speakers or bilingual anglophones and they do not speak perfect French. What should be done in this case? What language to speak? Do not worry, and most importantly, tell yourself that they are just as stressed as you, or more. Baragouiner 2-3words of English should be enough for you to understand and for his part your speaker will probably make the effort to express themselves clearly and slowly and using sign language. If you are not comfortable in English, do not hesitate to prepare a short list of questions to ask. Once again, the speaker has already had interviews with our teams, so you do not have to ask him specific questions, it's only a formality to see if the flow goes on between you.

Trust yourself!

One last tip? Trust yourself! You know very well when the power goes on or when it does not go through. Use your feeling! The feeling does not go with the speaker that we presented to you? Do not worry, you will be able to meet someone else shortly.

  • To present the rooms of the house / apartment:

Here is the bathroom (the bathroom) / the living room (the living room / living room) / the bedroom.

The presentation of your rules of life requires a little preparation if you do not master the language of the interlocutor. Especially do not worry, our speakers will not blame you for some grammar mistakes. Get started and enjoy yourself!
