You want your children to be willing to learn English but don't know how to encourage them? Read our 5 little tips to help your child discover the English language.
1 - Watch videos in the orignal language
All video platforms are great to use, YouTube, Netflix etc.. Choose a programme that your kids like and 'switch' the language to English or even choose a programme only available in the target language. If your children are of an age when they can read, feel-free to add subtitles.
This allows your children to tune in their ear, all whilst enjoying a programme that interests them!
2 - Read in English
If you children are able to read, offer them books in english on subjects they enjoy. This will improve their vocabulary, spelling and grammar all at the same time!
If they are not yet readers, you can read them the book in English! The child will benefit just from hearing the language!
3 - Change the setting on their technology (phones, tablets, laptops, video games etc...)
The idea is to get the children used to English vocabulary in a context they already understand. Even if there are big words they have never seen, they can work out the meaning from their knowledge of the system.
4 - Use online applications to learn English
You use your telephone every day. Make the most of it by downloading a quiz or game to work on your English. Or even download specialised applications made to help you learn English!
There are a great variety of options out there, for all ages and all levels.
5 - Employ an English Nanny to look after your children
With Mômji-Bilingual, you can employ your own english Nanny who will not only look after your children, but play Montessori-style games with them to improve their listening, comprehension and accent in English.
